Avoid the Following Things That Damage Your Driveway

There’s no point in reducing the life of your driveway by doing things that damage it. If your driveway is cracked or lifting, we have the supplies for a new driveway. Imagine this: stone pavers. Wouldn’t you prefer a beautiful driveway made of stone pavers rather than the cement driveway you have? Whether you replace the driveway or not, avoid these things that can crack and destroy the driveway.

Too Much Weight

We have an extensive supply of stone pavers from which to build a driveway, but you should always be cautious of excess weight on the driveway. For example, unless the driveway is built to handle the weight, an RV can crack the driveway. It is much heavier than your car. You may also end up with a cracked driveway if you have a construction crew park their equipment on the concrete.

Corrosion

If you live in an area with a lot of snow in the winter, the salt on the roads can damage your driveway. The salt will corrode the concrete and discolor it. The salt gets on your driveway from your car’s tires. You can also stain the driveway if your automobile is leaking. Storm runoff can contain corrosive materials that can damage your driveway. One such material is industrial pesticides.

Tree Roots

When you planned your landscaping, you never thought the tree would get so big. Consequently, its roots are growing underneath the driveway and lifting the concrete. The roots can also lift stone pavers. Make sure you always plant trees away from the driveway and your home’s foundation. It’s also a good idea to keep them away from the walkways and patios.

Gardening Tools

You can actually damage your driveway by mowing the lawn or whacking the weeds. The lawnmower blades can pit the concrete or stone pavers if they make contact with them. The weed whacker can also pit the concrete. You may even damage the concrete if you use a large shovel carelessly near the driveway. Be careful when you are gardening close to the driveway.

Poor Weather

Okay, admittedly, you cannot avoid poor weather, but you can check your driveway to see if it’s draining properly. If water pools on the driveway after it has rained or snowed, you have a drainage problem that needs immediate attention. The more the water builds up on the driveway the more it will damage the concrete or pavers. We have drainage solutions for you.
