Undo the Summer Damage on Your Patio for an Enjoyable Fall

Have you been enjoying your patio all summer long? We here at Luxury Landscape Supply certainly hope so. If you have been enjoying the outdoor space, it probably needs a little fall cleaning at the end of summer. Fall shouldn’t stop you from spending time outside, especially if you have a fire pit to keep warm. Here are some suggestions to help you undo the summer damage on your patio so it’s ready for fall.

Remove the Dirt

The first thing you need to do is to get the dirt off your patio. The best way to do this is to use a broom. If you have dirt in the nooks and crannies between your patio pavers, you can use a leaf blower to blow the dirt and debris away. This cleans the initial layer of grime that has made its way onto your patio and gets it ready for a more thorough cleaning using a cleaning solution.

Clean the Patio

Your patio probably has a lot of spills on it. This is especially true if you cook outside. Usually, the only cleaning solution you need to remove all of the stuck-on grime is water and dish soap. Mix the solution in a bucket and grab a clean cloth or sponge. If you use a sponge, make sure it’s a new one that isn’t worn down. Don’t use harmful or harsh chemical cleaners such as bleach on your patio.

Use a Brush If Necessary

If the cloth or sponge is not effective in removing the stains on the patio, use a bristled brush instead. You can dip the brush in your cleaning solution and scrub away all of the summer grime. This is effective in getting rid of spilt beverages, food, oil, and other messy things. You may have to work a little to get the stains up, but they will come up eventually.

Rinse the Patio

Turn on your garden hose to rinse away the cleaning solution and grime from your patio. Make sure to give it a good rinse so there isn’t any dish soap left on your patio pavers or cement. Don’t forget to take a moment to clean your outdoor kitchen, the patio furniture, and anything else on the patio. You can use your hose to rinse off certain furniture types.
